This Guidebook
describes the 300 km. Rideau Trail, a major hiking trail in Eastern
Ontario which runs from Kingston to Ottawa and passes through several
provincial parks and conservation areas. The guide format
incorporates data about the geology, history, forestry and botany of
the zones through which the trail passes, together with the trail
description itself. The guide provides the hiker both directions and
a detailed description of the Trail as it is traversed. It contains
109 pages of descriptive text and twenty 1:50,000 scale pull-out
full-colour route maps and an index map in a 6-ring binder. The maps
provide detailed information for the hiker including point-to-point
as well as cumulative distances along the trail. Roads that are used
to access the trail, towns, lakes and other landmarks are identified
on the map sheets.
The Guidebook may be ordered by mail from
the RTA in Kingston and from some bookstores.
