An active organization that maintains and preserves a secure trail between Kingston and Ottawa, via natural countryside and accessible to the public, and arranges self-propelled outdoor activities such as hiking, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing on the trail and in nearby areas, through an engaged core of members to ensure mission continuity.

Mission Statement

  1. To promote and encourage hiking, snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing and allied activities;
  2. To open up, construct and maintain a series of interconnecting trails between the City of Kingston and the City of Ottawa in the general area of the Rideau Canal and its tributary waters;
  3. To establish recreational facilities for the public enjoyment of nature in its unspoiled state with a minimum of adverse impact on the ecology;
  4. To co-operate with other organizations whose objectives parallel or overlap with the objectives of the Rideau Trail Association and, where appropriate, to serve as a connecting link between such organizations.
