Earning End-toEnd Badges

There are five end-to-end badges that you can earn by hiking the entire Rideau Trail or major sections of it.  Any of the badges can be earned by hiking short sections over a span of months or years; you just have to keep track of where you hiked, when and with whom.  To apply for any of the badges described below, or for further information, contact the appropriate local club  (for those badges covering the entire trail) or the Association Secretary.  Contact information is on the inside front cover of the Newsletter. Hikers must be a member of the RTA to receive a badge.

Hike the 145 km from Lake Ontario (map 1) to the Lally Homestead (map 8) to earn the Kingston Club's end-to-end badge.

Hike the 70km from Lally Homestead (map 8) to Rosedale (map 11) to earn the Central Club's end-to-end badge.

Hike the 115 km from near Parliament Hill in Ottawa (map 16) to Rosedale, just outside Smith's Falls, (map 11) to earn the Ottawa Club's end-to-end badge.

Hike the entire 305 km of the Rideau Trail from Kingston to Ottawa and earn the original end-to-end badge.

For a real challenge, hike, snowshoe and/or ski the entire 305 km of the Rideau Trail during the months of January and February only and earn the coveted winter ("snowflake") end-to-end badge.
