- When approaching King Street West from Lake Ontario Park, Trail now turns RIGHT, versus Left
- Trail continues East along the South side of King Street West
- At the first set of lights, cross road and continue the Trail into Country Club Drive
- Trail blazes have been modified accordingly
- Trail Diversion is expected to continue through 2027
Update – 29 September 2026:
The construction on King St West continues. The north sidewalk (Rideau Trail main route) has now reopened, but the south sidewalk has since been torn up between Trailhead Place and Country Club Drive (photo 1). This means the junction from the Waterfront Trail / Rideau Trail onto King St W is now blocked (photo 2), which also makes the current temporary route unusable. As such, the 08 August 2026 Trail Alert – “Diversion on King St Kingston 01B to 01C” needs to be updated. The new temporary route is from Lake Ontario Park straight north on the driveway and crossing King St W at the lights onto Country Club Dr, as represented by the red line on the map in photo 3. It’s unknown how long this new detour is expected to last, but it has not been marked with orange blazes because it’s not anticipated to be long. The situation is being monitored regularly and a further update will be sent when appropriate.
