VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

Keeping the RTA organized, our trails maintained, and our activities varied, plentiful and well conducted all take a considerably amount of time and effort.  All of these efforts are completed by volunteers at both Association and Club levels.  Many of these volunteer opportunities can increase/develop your knowledge and/or learn new skill sets, while others allow you to gain personal satisfaction through contribution to positive and beneficial outcomes.  It is also understood that everybody’s life is busy.  Please consider volunteering where/how your schedule permits – every little bit helps to reduce individual workloads and is much appreciated.

Association Level Positions

Director:

We remain one Director shy for the Board this year.  The Board sets and oversees Association policies and protect the long-term health of the Association.  Board meetings take place quarterly, plus committee and other special meetings.  For more complete information, including the Job Description and/or Application Form, please contact Rusty Bassarab, email –  president@rideautrail.org

Vice President:

The responsibilities of this position are not what most people believe.  The Vice President is now an Association Officer position (the individual is not a Director, nor part of the Board) and oversees the administrative support aspects of Association daily activities – including financial, membership, and all other types of administrative support to RTA Clubs and Committees.  Taking on the Vice President role is not any sort of commitment to become a Director or the President.  Without a Vice President all of these responsibilities fall to others who already have a full plate of responsibilities.  For more information, please contact Rusty Bassarab, email –  president@rideautrail.org

GIS and Mapping:

Do you wish to learn more about the various different ways to utilize geographic information:  including map making, information display, resource tracking and similar skills?  There is no requirement to fill any particular position at this time, but it is an opportunity to develop some depth in both knowledge and capabilities.  It will include the basics on what GIS information is, the different units/measures for how locations can be described, how to use programs like Google Earth, ArcGIS, as well as apps like Gaia and AllTrails.  Depending upon the level of interest, instruction may be on-line or in person.   For more information, please contact Rusty Bassarab, email –  president@rideautrail.org

Club Level Positions

Volunteers are required to assist as part of Club Executives for a range of positions.  In addition, Clubs are looking for volunteers to helps with various aspects of trail maintenance, either on a regular basis or just for some specific assistance when available.  Please help by doing what you can.  Contact your Club Chair, or Executive member for more information.
